At Prizel’s Pharmacy in Olean, N.Y., owner Bob Prizel is paying 11 times what he used to for a bottle of prescription drugs.

Digoxin, a generic drug used to treat congestive heart failure, has skyrocketed in price — from $80 per one-thousand pills to $900 for the same quantity — in recent months, Prizel said.

"The prices of some of these generics have just gone ballistic, gone crazy,” Prizel said.
